  • Used
[Stanford, CA], [197-]. 8x10 inch black and white photograph, creased, together with an apparently later print, which is in very good condition but slightly less crisp; also included is a negative with two almost identical versions of the image, one taken right after the other. The negative is clean and in a protective sleeve. The names of two gay activists are penned on the back of the earlier print; we see a young Cleve Jones at lower right with long hair. Galotti was instrumental in adding protection of gay men and lesbians to Fair Employment Practices guidelines in the Bay Area. Among the others in the photograph, identified by Gerard Koskovich, are John Cailleau (lifting his wig), Dave Nee (behind the door), and in front in a striped short, Donna Hughes-Oldenburg. The Gay People's Union at Stanford, founded in 1971, was one of the first LGBT campus organizations. Thanks to Gerard Koskovich for identifying the photographer.
