Teg. 12.25ins x 8.75ins, marbled endpapers, xv, (iii), 481pp plus frontis, 10pp plates and 2 maps (1 double paged). Also other illustrations within text. Volume one covers religious houses, industries, agriculture, architecture, schools and sport. Colour of spine slightly faded. Top of spine worn, otherwise VG.
