Thirteenth edition. A widely read work on the life of Jesus written following the sudden death of the author's sister during their travels in Ottoman Syria and Palestine. The work argues that Jesus purified himself of "Jewish traits," infusing race into theology and insisting the superiority of Christianity. Written by Ernest Renan, a French Orientalist and Semitic scholar. In the original quarter calf binding with patterned boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Small marks to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
