Octavos. Vol.1: (xix) 549 pp. Vol.2: (viii) 483 pp. Vol.3: (vii) 634 pp. Full tan calf binding. Spine with gilt lettering over black labels, with gilt decoration and raised bands. All edges and end papers marbled. The work is a comprehensive historical survey of the Middle Ages in three volumes, by Hallam the notable English historian. The publication is seen as one of his major works. Shelf wear and spine on vol. 1 part detached at base. Interior with some light foxing to the end papers, title pages and initial pages of the volume Henry Hallam (July 9, 1777 - January 21, 1859) was an English historian. Hallam, was a fellow of the Royal Society, and a trustee of the British Museum. In 1830 he received the gold medal for history, founded by George IV. This set of three volumes is heaver than the standard single book quoted in the standard shipping so please enquire for the actual postage to your destination.
