About This Item

(VISIONAIRE). Gan, Stephen, James Kaliardos & Cecilia Dean, Editors. VISIONAIRE NO. 16: THE CALENDAR ISSUE (1996) - DISPLAY COPY. New York: Visionaire Publishing, 1996. First Edition 1/2000. Narrow Oblong 4to. Loose Plates in a Binder. Fashion Quarterly. Very Good -/No Jacket - As Issued. np (110pp), 55 individual 5 ½ x 11" sheets printed recto and verso, housed in a molded Plexiglas frame, 54 illustrations in color and b&w. Designed by Gregory Foley and Florentino J. Pamintuan. Published in an edition of two thousand copies, this is the sixteenth installment of everyone's favorite long-running luxe fashion quarterly, Visionaire. It is a free-standing desk calendar for the year 1996 (suitable for leap year use again in 2024!) for which Visionaire commissioned fifty-three artists to supply an image that is displayed for a week, then replaced. Each page includes a portion of Richard Martin's comprehensive contemporary fashion bibliography on the verso. The impressive list of contributors includes Georganne Deen, Laurie Simmons, Serge Lutens, Rita Ackerman, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Glen Luchford, Pamela Hanson, Marc Jacobs, Jean-Paul Goude, Ruven Afanador, Ross Bleckner, Todd Oldham, Jack Pierson, Mary Ellen Mark, Donald Baechler, David Seidner, Ellen Von Unwerth, Robert Medvedz, Ruben Toledo, Steven Meisel, James Dignan, Francois Berthoud, Michael Capotosto, Josef Astor, Filip Pagowski, Jeffrey Fulvimari, Raymond Meier, Mario Testino, Satoshi Saikusa, Mats Gustafson, Stephane Sednaoui, and many others. A handsome unnumbered hors commerce example of this uncommon issue whose individual calendar pages show some handling and creases along the extremities, with the rear subscription page bearing a few minor gouges and a short closed tear. It has been priced accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: Additional shipping costs are required for this item beyond our standard rates due to its value - we will inform you of the applicable amount at time of purchase.
