About This Item
Brooklyn, NY: Eagle Press, 1896. Flexible red leather. Very good overall. A scarce title, and unusual as it was "Prepared for General Circulation and especially for the members of the Young People's Christian Union who attended the Annual Convention in Jersey City in 1896". Page 88-96 is devoted to the history of the Universalist Church in America, "born" in New Jersey, with Rev. John Murray and Thomas Potter. Seven pages of maps of Manhattan are keyed with hotels, museums and other sites.
Bound in full red flexible calf with a decorative title page with the title "The Gate to the Sea", which is in gilt on the front cover. Covers quite rubbed at edges and somewhat marked.
8vo, 130pp, illustrations. OCLC: 15689792 cites only 2 holdings, at Ball State University Library and Virginia Tech.
