Title in red with first page of "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" printed lightly in gray as background on front side. Vertical crease and a few short edge tears. Address label at top on front side. Dinkins prevailed over the incumbent Democratic Mayor (Ed Koch) in the Primary and went on to become the first African American to serve as mayor of New York City after he defeating Rudolph Giuliani in the General Election. He served one four year term before losing to Giuliani in the 1993 rematch.
