White spine with black lettering. Previous owner's name neatly written inside front cover. Light rubbing, scuffing, bumping to covers, upper corner has some bumping/curling on most pages. Pages not numbered; 40 pages. Vibrant paintings by James Ransome, throughout the book. A child is born into slavery and soon is working from dawn to dark for the master. Life is hard, but he never stops dreaming of a better place and that the wagon he's helped to build is a glorious chariot of freedom. .
