Sampson Low, London, 1952. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/No Dust Jacket. X, 294 pages. Red coloured boards with black decoration to the edges of the front board and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the book corners. Fading and rubbing to the backstrip and there are also a few stains present. Light browning and offset tanning to the endpapers and light age toning to the internal pages. Browning and foxing to the text block edges and there are some stains to the front fore and lower text block edges. A previous owner has placed the number 916 and the date 4/9/90, in pencil, to the top edge of the front paste-down and the gift inscription is present to the top left-hand corner to the verso of the free front end paper. The publication data says that this is a first edition " First Published in 1952 ", but on the title page underneath the author's name in small type, other words " Overseas Edition " are printed.
