"The long-awaited family chronicle of one of this country's most distinguished and highly respected men of letters" (from the jacket flap). Although not indicated as such in the book, this copy from the collection of Walter Sullivan (1924-2006), who studied under Lytle at the Iowa Writer's Workshop before becoming an author, critic, longtime Vanderbilt University professor, authority on Southern literature, and -- along with Lytle -- one of the founding members of The Fellowship of Southern Writers. 8vo light brown cloth boards stamped in copper on spine; includes map and family tree; 270 pages. Spine tips and corners lightly rubbed otherwise near fine in very good, lightly edge-rubbed dust jacket. Uncommon signed.
