London: George Virtue, 1868. First Edition. Rebound / rebacked in full burgundy morocco with gilt embellishments, and gilt title to spine. The 70 plates are by W. Bartlett and W. Brockedon. Engraved frontis portrait of William Beattie MD, and engraved title page with view of Val Pelice. Lovely folded map of Piedmont. All plates are protected by their original tissue guards. Very good condition boards, slight rubbing only. New end papers. Moderate foxing to frontis. Light foxing to engraved title. The rest of the book is in a very good with only light foxing in some places. iii, 216 pp. 280 x 220 mm (11 x 8¾ inches). 'Le premier album anglais publié sur l'Oisans et le Dauphiné au début du 19ème siècle, superbement illustré. Il comporte également des planches sur la Savoie (e.a. Migèves, Cluse et Viu) et le Piémont. Rare et très recherché'. (Perret)
