The authors describe the earlier boats, which used walking beams and paddle wheels, as well as the later propeller-driven ferries. With 90 photos and a map of the Bay Area. --- In gloss navy cloth-covered boards with silver image of paddle wheel and walking beam to cover, spine titling in silver. Volume wrapped in jacket which repeats the cover image, but in navy blue. --- An umarked, bright, tightly-bound copy. Unclipped jacket ($4.50) with a little age-toning, else intact and wrapped in removable archival mylar protector. ; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; xv, 157, (6) pages .
