The first German edition of Kane's WANDERINGS OF AN ARTIST, and the only contemporary translation of the work to appear with chromolithographed plates accompanying the text. One of the basic travel narratives, recording in daily journal form Kane's travels in the Red River settlement, the valley of the Saskatchewan, across the Rocky Mountains and down the Columbia to Puget Sound and Vancouver Island.
