This work features the quirky Wapshot family, and is set in a coastal Massachusetts town. "The Wapshot Chronicle" was awarded the National Book Award for fiction in 1958, and was named to the Modern Library list of the 100 best novels of the 20th century. With illustrations by Chet Jezierski. Includes a special introductory note by the author. Signed by Mr. Cheever on a leaf near front of volume. One of an unspecified number in a limited edition. Publisher's Notes from the Editors booklet is included. --- Bound in full brown bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers, with brown silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker.
