One line has been trimmed at the foot of Page 2, and there is some edge browning/paper clip residue. Original 6-page typescript (carbon copy) manuscript of Johns' 'Heroes of Africa' (a draft of the Chapter 'The Scot Who Walked Alone' - Chapter 4 of 'Biggles Book of Heroes' with significant similarities, but also a large number of textual / content differences). With a couple of pen corrections which may or may not be authorial. Undated, but c1959.

A collection of recipes and advice for pleasurable entertaining, from a woman of stature, descendant of Roger Puleston of Emral, Worthenbury. She spent her later years in Monaco, and travelled in high circles there, in the book offering thanks to the Marches Donghi for supplying recipes to this compilation. The recipes reflect Monaco, offering Tacchino all Storiona, Sole Lucullus, Zabaglione, and Oeufs Poches Marquise, for example. The author was the last Puleston to possess the trove of important manuscript on 16th and 17th century Wales and Ireland known as the Puleston Mss. "On the death of Mrs. Elfrida Puleston in Monaco in 1946 the family papers passed to H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco, whose archivist later arranged their transfer to the British Museum." Each etching signed by Bishop and numbered I/VII. Publisher's gray clamshell cloth box, upper cover and spine lettered in gilt. One of seven sets of artist's proofs, with each of the 8 etchings signed and numbered by Bishop, a groundbreaking twentieth-century social realist.
