About This Item
NY: Pageant Press Book. Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. (1955), xvii, 77pp. The rear cover has been damp, causing rippling of the dj, and bleeding to the rear board, else G. Presentation copy from the author's daughter. The author was born near Natchez, Mississippi. She was corresponding secretary of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and was president of the Kentucky branch of the National League of American Penwomen. She resided in Louisville, Kentucky for many years. This is her second book of poetry. She apparently followed the major events of World War II and sets them down in poetic form. From the dj: "A dynamic conception skillfully and powerfully executed is offered in these exciting verses by a newcomer to the ranks of American poets. The essence, the spirit vitale of all the days of the War Years, has been captured in her lines; they will catapult her readers back to the Days of Blitzkrieg, the nights of courage and horror, the hours and the minutes of hope and despair that began with the deep rumbles of 1935 and finished with the atomic thunder of Hiroshima.".
