Unclipped jacket has light edge-wear with minor tears and chipping. Moderate tanning and creasing. Large area of loss to spine with rubbing and marking.

Small tanned spots on endpapers where there was prolonged contact with tape. Otherwise clean and tight. The jacket is tanned and has a sticker on the spine. Father Vann examines the sources of suffering in the modern world, with a special focus on the breakdown of the family.

London: Collins, 1953. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Fair. 187p. Ex-library. A tan cloth hardcover book in FAIR condition. The boards were cracking off, but have been crudely repaired with clear tape. The hinges have been repaired with white tape. Edges wearing through, spine ends worn down, and spine tanned down the length. Faint, spotty stains on the cloth. Binding is a bit limp due to the damaged cover, but holds well enough for reading purposes. Label on spine; bookplate, call numbers, stamps, and card pocket inside. Scattered pencil marginalia, but most text clean. A vintage Catholic book making philosophical speculations about the future of the Church.
