As a regular Telegraph reader, one of the first things I turn to on Mondays,Wednesdays and Saturdays is the 'Way of the World' column, written by Auberon Waugh. This work takes some of the best pieces of work from 1995 to 1996 and collects them in a single volume, dedicated to the cartoonist,Willie Rushton who sadly is no longer with us. Superlatives for this book real fail me and I'm sure the author would be: (a) appalled at the fact a computer user is writing a review (b) horrified at the lack of education evinced by my grammar. Waugh delights in exposing the many absurdities of modern British life, Pouring scorn on the education system, politically correct pressure groups, vegetarians, politicians and other newspapers. Though this may sound an unlikely recipe for success, it succeeds partially by actually being almost 100% true. As a smoker, I do find the grotesque,proto-fascist practices of the Anti-smoking zealots appalling - As a libertarian, I find anti-motoring and anti-hunting activists ludicrously intolerant and blinkered. As a follower of the political scene, I frequently do find myself in favour of the legendary 'Committee of Belgian ticket inspectors' who feature in these pages. This book is hilarious and over-exposure could harm your health. Anyone with a sense of humour - Buy it today
