Octavo, original green cloth lettered in gilt on spine & in blind on upper cover. 351 pp., colour pictorial map endpapers, plus a black & white frontispiece and numerous drawings throughout the text, some full page, all by the author. Ink inscriptionon a preliminary blank leaf "To Lieut Jeffrey V. Brock R.C.N.V.R. With Hearty Greetings from John McGivering Oxford Jan: 1940". Covers very slightly rubbed & marked; a very good, bright copy with bright gilt lettering. A decent and attractive copy.
¶ The seventh title in the Swallows & Amazons series, about the Coot Club and their unforseen adventures on the yacht Goblin, from Harwich to Holland.The inscription in this copy is from John Harold McGivering, Lieutenant-Commander, Royal Naval Reserve, to Jeffry Vanstone Brock, Rear-Admiral, Royal Canadian Navy. Brock was the author of the two volume "Memoirs of a Sailor" (McClelland and Stewart Ltd,1981).
