A remarkably bright jacket with little to no wear. Text is clean and unmarked. Binding strong. Front board has a tiny spot stain. Slight foxing to fore edge. Margins of pages 261-264 have a light bump and some foxing. All else clean and bright. Black top stain unblemished. Overall a lovely copy in fine condition. Jacket now in fresh Mylar. In a Very Good dust wrapper, small chips and rubs at spine ends and corners. A science fiction classic, one of the the grandfathers of the satirical futuristic dystopia genre, WE was banned in Russia in 1921and first published in English in 1924 by E. P. Dutton in New York in a translation by Gregory Zilboorg. The German TV network ZDF adapted the novel for a TV movie in 1982, under the German title Wir (English: WE).. First British Edition. Cloth. With the striking purple dust-jacket designed by Stanley Chapman, priced at 35s / £1.75. A crisp, clean copy, with just a little rubbing to jacket edges. Near fine. Russian novelist Yevgeny Zamyatin's masterpiece: "a remarkable Utopian fantasy, a landmark in world literature, the precursor of and almost certainly the model for 'Brave New World' and '1984'...
