About This Item
Garden City, New York: Hanover House, 1959. First Edition. Quarto. 128 pages. Weegee's remarkable darkroom prints using ink were masterpieces not only of the inner part of New York, but he was also a printmaker--halftone/offset lithography/gravure processes and with much to teach the photographer. While this work is profusely illustrated with examples, he also explains the process to reach the desired goal. His distorted grotesques of nudes and Hollywood celebrities (Marilyn Monroe, Debby Reynolds, etc.) are shown as well as the process to archive them. Bound in black cloth pictorially stamped in silver depicting a photographer, spine lettering silver and red, one corner bumped, a very good copy in dust jacket with a few closed tears, chipping to spine ends and a bit of rubbing.
