About This Item

London: Edward Moxon and Co., 1863. Original wrappers (single leaf folded to form four pages), 6.75 x 4.25 inches. First Edition / First Printing. Tennyson the Poet Laureate wrote this at the request of Queen Victoria, in order to celebrate the marriage of Princess Alexandra of Denmark to "Bertie," the Prince of Wales. The ode was later expanded when included in Enoch Arden (1864). The first printing is distinquishable from the second only by the "French rule" under the title: in the first the center diamond is solid, whereas in the second it is hollow. A exceptionally fine copy of a fragile and scarce piece. Wise 103; Colbeck p. 839.. First Edition. Wrappers. Fine.
