San Francisco: Paul Elder and Company, 1914 Book. Fine. Hardcover. First edition. Pp. xi, [xii], [1]-219. Illustrated with 8 tipped-on plates. Brown coarse cloth lettered in gilt, pictorial paste-down on front cover. Gilt on spine slightly dulled, minor surface scratch to top edge of text block. A fine copy. A fine grouping of stories by California authors, demonstrating the excellent writing of the period. The tipped-on illustrations are after paintings by California artists including Perham W. Nahl, Maynard Dixon and others. Included in the selection of writings is Jack London's "The Son of the Wolf," with an accompanying illustration by Maynard Dixon. Also included is "The Enchanted Mesa" by Charles F. Lummis. [Woodbridge, Jack London: A Bibliography: 763; p.233]..

About Argonaut Book Shop

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
