About This Item

Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, London., 1844.. Interesting map in two parts. The Western Australia map shows from Perth, south to Albany, with county borders and sketchy geographical detail, supplemented by text on map - 'Abundance of Kangaroos' or 'rich red loam.'The Tasmanian map shows the northern coast and the strip down to Hobart in detail, the rest of the island is virtually unexplored and left blank. Steel engraving. Original outline colour. Very good condition. Some very slight foxing not affecting the image. Size: 39 x 31.5 cm. (15½ x 12½ inches)
