Self published by authors, Modesto, 1988, 1988. 1st Edition 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Collectible, Fine/Fine. SIGNED by author (Dunscomb) on title page. Quarto, hardcover, fine in fine white and blue dj in mylar. Limited edition, first edition, second printing, 1,000 copies. 376 pp. 478 illustrations, 27 locomotive diagrams, 24 passenger train diagrams... the steam locomotive has all but disappeared but between 1935 and 1953 countless photos were taken. This book deals with the 208 steam locomotives of the Western Pacific operating from 1949 to 1970 from Salt Lake City, Oakland and San Francisco. It ran the California Zephyr until 1962, a highly successful passenger train. Frontis shows Engine 96 at Berry Creek, 1912.
