Maps and short essays on 28 routes from Pike, the Sonora Trail and the Santa Fe Trail to the Overland Mail Route of 1861-69 and the Pacific Railroad of 1869. Specially printed and bound for the Zamorano Club of Los Angeles.

These 28 maps were originally published in Westways magazine between January, 1950 and September, 1952. The principal routes of trade and exploration in the American Southwest are represented, "beginning with [Zebulon Montgomery] Pike's 1806 expedition and concluding with the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869."
