All in ink, in Author White's hand: (1) On the front pastedown there is a statement of edition limitation "To Thomas Mitchell Peirce / Jan 10, 1902"; (2) On the front free endpaper, is the following: "My dear Tom: This, with the author's best wishes, is a single little dainty turnip from the ten acre lot which in our early companionship produced nothing but bull-frogs, doodle bugs and malaria, but now at last, yielding to the plow of industry and good healthy nerve, has begun to produce this sort of garden sass. Sincerely your's, Stewart Edward White". Illustrated cloth. 5 1/4" x 7 3/4". A dark novel of vengeance, set in the Black Hills of the latter nineteenth century.Uncommon signed. A Good Plus copy (Spine leaning and toned; soiled, pages warped and dampsoiled), now in a custom clear mylar protective jacket.
