This first edition forms an account of the industry of whaling based on the author's thirteen years experience, including four years at sea with the whaling fleet. Features chapters on whale species, their zoology and movements, as well as on land whaling stations, steam whalers and the hurdles faced by whalers.With a prize bookplate from Magdalen College School, Oxford, awarding the Recitation Prize to D. C. Morris dated June 1934.The first edition of this work. Illustrated with twenty-four plates from the author's own photographs. Collated, complete.An excellent first edition of this guide on whaling. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; a touch bumped to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, bar a slight strain to the front hinge, which remains firm. Pages have the odd spot. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
