From the Prefatory Note: "The lad was barely out of his teens when the struggle ended (Civil War) , in 1865, but his experience in camp, on the march, and in battle is ineffaceably stamped into his life and character". 100 original drawings by artist Frank Beard, who was himself a soldier in the Civil War. 399 pages. Handsome blue binding with gold stamped letters and picture of a young lad dressed in the Union uniform on a stallion. One of the nicest copies of this book I've seen. Tight, clean and in Near Fine original condition. .
