INSCRIBED on half-title by Giddings ("To Yvette, Thank you for your encouraging words. Love, Paula"). Yvette Le Roy, the inscribee, was a librarian who had owned Liberty House, a bookshop in Harlem between 1969 and 1979, which offered a place during that decade for a lot of African American authors to promote their books.
