First edition. Illustrated with two leaves of black and white star charts. Collated, complete. Following the adventures of Bastin, Bickley, and Arbuthnot as they travel to the south sea island of Orofena. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Printer's imprint for the first edition with code F140.219 to the verso of page 347 as cited in "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1825" by J. E. Scott. Bound in full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Minor loss to the cloth at the edge of the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good
