About This Item
Monty, Italy and one man's incredible escape. The story of Field Marshall Montgomery's stepson who was captured by the Nazis after the Battle of El Alamein and his subsequent escape from a POW camp in northern Italy and his 500 mile journey through enemy territory. He evaded capture on numerous occasions and was ultimately saved by a family of brave Italian peasants. In 1943 a year after he disappeared he staggered back into Army HQ to be greeted by his now famous stepfather. Book and DJ in near fine condition but top right corner of first two pages have been snipped and cover has a spot where a sticker used to be.
