Large leather folio, measuring 20 x 16" with bold 9" diameter, raised golden presidential seal on the front cover, and gilt decorations. Gilt dentelles inside covers. Blue silk end papers. Marbled free end pages. Numbered and registered copy label on title page, (this is number 2357), dated February 12, 1908. Features 25 large gravure portraits with captioned tissue overlays, from Washington to McKinley, and Theodore Roosevelt, who is not listed on the contents page, but is included at the end. Includes an appreciation and historical review of each president. Historical vignettes in the margins. The covers are detached, and lacks the spine cover. The red suede-like leather comes off on your hands, a common problem with leather this old. A great candidate for rebinding. The contents are good and show some light foxing, and a clear taped repair on the title page. The stunning portraits would also be eminently suitable for framing individually.. Leather. He then became a member of the editorial staff of the Record-Union, and continued the association for thirteen years. In 1879 he was tendered an appointment on the county board of education, of which he remained a member for twenty-three years. CONDITION: FAIR. A clean, tight copy internally. Covers well worn with substantial rubbing to edges, corners, and spine. Front board nearly detached. Owner's inked and penciled names on front pastedown and title page.
