Octavo (19cm); publisher's blue-green pictorial cloth, stamped in white and black on spine and front cover; 496pp. Spine faded, with titling nearly rubbed away; peacock device and lettering on front board partially flaked, but still perfectly legible; else a firm, pleasing, Very Good copy. In custom cloth and morocco clamshell case. First printing of Lawrence's first published book, preceding the London edition by one day and reputedly rare in the first issue (indeed, the catalog for the 1994 Bradley Martin sale at Sotheby's calls the book "extremely rare," noting that "...the first issue with the 1910 copyright notice on verso of the the title page is thought to exist in only a handful of copies").
