Who's Who in the Zoo Descriptive Stories of Animal Life by Barrows, Marjorie. Winter, Milo - 1932

Reuben H Lilja. Fair. Stapled wraps. This is an odd edition -- contains no publishing information - no publisher, date, author. The cover design and plastic eye design are the same as the 1941 editions described elsewhere so I have assumed the Barrows authorship and Llilja publisher for this copy. Milo Winter is identified on the artwork. A small "700" is printed in the upper corner of the front cover. The covers are separated at the spine. The paper is fragile throughout and has edge tears and separation at spine fold. The illustrations are bright and fun. I don't know where this falls in publishing order but I had guessed it to be earlier than 1941. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 12 pages .

Chicago: Reilly & Lee, 1932. First edition. Hardcover. Good. folio, green pebbled hardback binding with color onlay of raccoon catching fish on front, 1st ed.(1932), 60 pages, NO DJ. Front corners bumped, cover unevenly faded, some minor spots of soil to bottom margin of a few pages.

Large quarto in color illus boards; 14 unnumbered pages : color illustrations ; 31 cm, Plastic ring binding. A very early 'eyeball book' (possibly the first such design implementation?) , in which a 'button' attachment to rear wrapper is used as the 'eye' for each animal character portrayed.

THE BRIGHT-EYE BOOK, Reuben H. Lilja & Co., Inc., 1941, first edition, some wear to the spine, a small chip missing from the upper margin of the rear cover, else a bright very good to very good+ copy with fine contents being a full color, full page plate on every leaf as well as both the front and rear cover with a movable black eye pasted to the rear cover which remains constant for each new animal die cut as you progress throught the book. Illustrated by Milo Winter.

Green cloth with color pastedown, light wear to extremities, book plate, previous owner's address and gift isncription; dust jacket with large closed tears, wear and small losses. Twenty-four color plates and 2 full page b&w plates depicting different animals, both Latin and common names are used.. First Edition. Very Good/Good. Folio.
