Florence: Leo S. Olschki, 1970 4to (29.5 cm), XII, 180 pp, 28 plates. Publisher's cloth. The catalogue of Lombard illuminations in the collection of Wildenstein Foundation in New York. This collection was part of large and very beutiful group of Italian illuminations collected by French gallery owner, art dealer and art historian Georges Wildenstein (1892-1963). Preface by Bernard Berenson. 28 plates in color and 17 half-tone figures reveal the beauty of the works, while the text explain their importance in the development of Lombard book-illuminations. Included an essay on historical development, meticulous descriptions of 28 illuminations, indexes of artists, of manuscripts, incunabuli, illuminations, inconographical and subject index.
