The Great Road followed the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Cumberland Gap and than on to Louisville. Contains an index and a bibliographical notes in the rear. End paper maps. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. The dust jacket has some edgewear and rubbing to the rear panel, else a presentable jacket that is not price-clipped. Middlesboro Kentucky, 1973. 392 pp includes index and bibliographical notes. The Wilderness Road of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky was the first route opened across the Appalachian barrier. It allowed the westward spread of English colonization. and from 1775 to 1800 it was the principal overland entry into the limitles reaches of the west. Dust jacket has some short tears (one is mended with non yellowing tape) and a small chip to bottom at front of spine. Looks good in new plastic cover. Grey patterned paper on boards binding has a bit of rubbing to foot of spine, slight spine tilt. Endpapers are a map of the trail. Former owner's name neatly at top of front free endpaper. Text is in nice, clean, unmarked condition.. Fourth Edition. HC and DJ. Good/Fair.
