Quesnel, BC: Mrs. Aveline Moffat Hill, 1971. 2nd Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. As a pioneer in British Columbia, where Cochran arrived in 1912, she kept an extensive diarywith very detailed observations about the wilderness surrounding her in the Cariboo country. Green cloth, gilt titling to front and spine, illsutrated endpapers, black and white photographs, 151 pages. Minor shelf wear, a faint spot of darkening to fore edge, a few tiny dark spots to top and bottom of textblock edge. Dust jacket shows some shelf wear including some chipping to spine ends and corners, light age darkening, a half inch closed tear was repaired with clear scotch tape. It is now protected in a Brodart cover. First-person account of life in the Caribou Country wilderness of British Columbia by the author, who was brought there as a young bride in 1912. Long handwritten inscription on the second blank page calls it "the only true lived story ever published in the North by all local talent,'' & describes the book's presentation to Queen Elizabeth in 1971 while on a visit to BC. A small penned note at bottom of title page describes the origins of the moose sketched there. Written in 1964 & first published in 1970, this is a Second Printing from Apr. 1971. In 151 pages with black-and-white photos throughout.
