Gallery slip, 'with the compliments of Gordon VeneKlasen' is tipped in. See photos for Table of Contents. Illustrated in 35 color reproductions. 'Lehmbruck's search for meaningful form extends beyond the big sculptures. It is a long-term affair, constantly returning to the same subjects and earlier works.... For an understanding of Lehmbruck's migration of forms, his creations need to be looked at globally, without excluding the very numerous paintings, drawings and prints. In his paintings he lets the emotions that fill his work burst free in vivid, antinaturalistic areas of flat color, notably rapidly painted blues that help establish volume and give his canvases an Expressionist feel.' -from the essay <> by Annabelle Teneze given in English and German. Includes end notes and list of works.
