New York: Museum of Modern Art, 1976. First Printing. Hardbound. Exlib with spine label remnants and card on rear pastedown and ffep. A superb copy otherwise. Black leatherette with mounted color plate. 110 pp., profusely illustrated with 48 color plates. Near Fine in black leatherette (faux leather) with mounted photo and no dust jacket as issued. Tiny name stamp at extreme upper left of title page. A seminal monograph of photos taken by Eggleston in the American south between 1969 and 1971. Szarkowsky's essaybegins wirth him saying that he has never been in the locations where these photos were taken. Most interesting, highly sought-after, being the first exhibition of this type to be held at MOMA.
