New York: Random House, 1950. 1st Printing . Cloth with Dustjacket. Very nice collection of William Inge material including a copy of Come Back Little Sheba Inge's 1st play about a slovenly but sweet housewife played by Shirley Booth and her troubled marriage to Doc an alcoholic. Booth recreated her role for the film, and won an Oscar for her performance. Illustrated with 1 photo. Small owner's label of theatrical agent Bridget Aschenberg on front pastedown. Price clipped, small touch of offsetting to the front endsheet, and a few tiny spots to the verso of the half title pg.which is mirrored to the verso of the photo + very light wear to the back panel of the dustjacket and a very samll amount of chipping to the top and bott. edge of the spine panel. The book itself is Vg+ in a vg. dustjacket. Laid in is an original playbill from the original production. which has light wear. Also included is Picnic, A Summer Romance In 3 Acts. This is a first paperback edition and movie tie in of Inge's play later made into a well remembered & lovely film w. Kim Novak & Bill Holden. Illus. w. drawings + nice cover design. Published in 1956 by Bantam Books. Vg. Also included is Inge's play Bus Stop which is a 3rd printing paperback movie tie that starred Marilyn Monroe and is illustrated with a nice cover with a photo of Monroe along with several drawings inside. Published by Bantam Books in 1956. Former owner's signature on the top of the 2 first pages. Light wear. Vg. And finally there is an original playbilll for Inge's play "A Loss Of Roses that starred Warren Beatty in his Broadway Debut along with Betty Field and Carol Haney. The play had a short run, but was later filmed in the early 60's as "The Stripper" with Joanne Woodward in the lead. Vg. Sold as a collection only.
