Each volume has a color frontispiece, illustrations and CXXII plates, some color and some double), 639 pp of text. Paged continuously. Frontispiece of pt. II included in the numbered plates (no. L). "This edition is limited to one thousand and fifty copies." This is number 136. Includes bibliographies.

Original red cloth hardback binding, good with general wear and rubbing, spine faded and tatty to the top and bottom. Front hinge only held by binding tapes. Contents clean, fore-edges uncut, light spotting to a first a last pages, only affecting a few plates, library stamps to the reverse of plates and plans, public library bookplate to pastedown along with private bookplate belonging to Frederick wood. Volume one only of three. A fair to good volume with numerous colour plates and attractive plans.. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair/No dust Jacket. Illus. by Hope. Folio.

Faux vellum over blue cloth, VG. 2 volumes, xx+372pp, x+373-639pp, grand total of 122 b/w plates, 87 text figs & plans & 8 huge floorplans in a separate portfolio, index, copy 112 of an edition of 1050 copies, expertly rebound to match the original cream vellum & blue paper boards preserving the original endpapers & bookplates of the Royal United Service Institution, top edge gilt & others untrimmed, internally fine, the portfolio water damaged to the cloth, but with the 8 floorplans un damaged save for a slight red stain to 1 plan. A monumental & complete history of Windsor Castle, superbly illustrated in Country Life's inimitable style. Sir William Henry St John Hope [ 1854 - 1919 ] worked on the book for 20 years after being asked to write the work by Queen Victoria.
