About This Item

This is a handsome, vintage copy of "THE WINES OF ITALY" by Luigi Veronelli. 1963; Canesi Editore; Rome, Italy. Nicely bound with a leather spine with gilt lettering and four raised bands, marbled covers, and decorative end papers. At the back of the book are 60 pages of color wine, vermouth, brandy, and liqueur labels (there are 80 labels in all). The contents are as follows: The Wines of Italy; The Preservation of Wine; Wine Tasting; Serving the Wine; Wine and Food; Liqueurs; Spirits; Liqueur-Tasting; Conclusion; Piemonte; Liguria; Lombardia; Trentino-Alto Adige; Veneto; Friuli-Venezia Giulia; Emilia Romagna; Toscana; Umbria; Marche; Lazio; Abruzzo E Molise; Campania; Puglia; Lucania; Calabria; Sicilia; Sardegna.

From the introduction: "The aim of this book is to offer the readers a careful and objective description if not of all Italian Wines at least of those which, through Fame and the constancy of their quality, have become established. It will be like leading the indulgent and curious reader on a fast and scintillating walk through the Italian provinces. As a matter of fact, it is surprising to realize how the wine reproduces, region by region, the beauty, the virtues and the defects of the country where it is made."

Condition:
Some very light soiling to the covers and spine. There is a small area at the top of the spine where the top leather layer has peeled. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean with no notable issues found. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
