This is the Arthur Ransome Winter Holiday first edition fourth impression published by Jonathan Cape in 1936, and is the fourth children’s illustrated book in Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons series of books.

The Arthur Ransome Winter Holiday dust jacket has a collage of illustrations to the front panel of the dust jacket and to the spine of the dust jacket. The back panel of the dust jacket has review of Arthur Ransome Swallowdale, Arthur Ransome Swallows and Amazons and Arthur Ransome Peter Duck.


Condition of the Dust Jacket:

The dust jacket is in Fair condition with tears, creases, foxing, minor losses, with a larger loss to the bottom of the back flap, and old tape repairs.  But, the dust jacket is mostly complete and still interesting to have with this very collectable children’s illustrated book by Arthur Ransome from 1936.


Condition of the Binding: 

The Arthur Ransome Winter Holiday original publisher’s binding is in a green cloth with the title blind stamped to the front board and gilt lettering to the spine.  The boards are in Very Good + condition with light marks and slight knocks to the top and bottom of the spine.


Condition of the Pages:

There are 359 numbered pages with colour double page illustrations to the front endpapers and rear endpapers of a map of the North Polar Expedition, an illustrated Title Page and 27 black and white illustrations throughout the book. The pages are in overall Very Good + condition with foxing confined mainly to the edges of the pages.
