About This Item

Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1963. Book Club Edition (BCE) . Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket as Issued. Gorey, Edward; Marriott, Pat. First book in the author's "Wolves Chronicles,'' for young adult (YA) readers, AND an unusual secondary collectible title featuring the artwork of the late, great Edward Gorey, who, though unattributed here, did the cover/spine art. Interior illustrations (pen-and-ink drawings) by Pat Marriott, which look amazingly Gorey-like. First published in 1962, this is a Young America Book Club Edition, c. 1963. Hardcover 8vo has brightly decorated paper over boards, with slight spine darkening. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally bright & clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages rather heavily tanned, especially around edges, but completely unmarked. Very mild rubbing to both ends of spine & all corners is only flaw. No DJ, as issued (these book club ones never had them). Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive from us--never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
