Thirck octavo (20.5cm.); publisher's brown pictorial cloth embossed in black and gilt; 654pp.; engraved portrait frontispiece, full-page illus. throughout. Cloth a bit rubbed along extremities, later ownership rubberstamp of the Foundation for American Christian Education to front free endpaper, else Very Good and sound. Early edition published the same year as the first, by the noted suffragist and president of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
