  • Used
12 x 10.25" textured black album with "Photographs'' on the front cover in gold. Contains nearly 500 black-and-white photos and around 34 cyanotype prints from 1906 to 1920. The album is divided into chapters which focus on different themes. The first chapter features photos from Beach Pond in Connecticut and Rhode Island, where children enjoyed picnics by the lake with a special treat of watermelon. The second chapter focuses on high school days of 1913 at "K.H.S." with portraits of friends, the family cat, and the baseball and basketball teams. The third chapter features Brooksie's visit to Camp Cohassett, house parties, summer fun, an operetta performed by young women, and visits to Pleasure Beach. Beach Pond is a frequent destination throughout the album and young women and men are often shown canoeing and spending time in the water. There are also photos from visits to Marconi Wireless Station and color postcards from Scobie Pond in New Hampshire and Camp Fairweather. Photographs measure between 1 x 1" and 3.25 x 6.25" and are either glued or held to the pages with corner tabs, accompanied by brief annotations. A few photos are hand-tinted. Around 17 photos are loose and a few may be missing.
