London: Ward Lock Oversized glossy durable pictorial hardcover without dust jacket, undated (but c1933/34, see below), 256 pages, "With twelve colour [full page] plates and nearly 300 [black-and-white] illustrations"; gently used, not abused, moderate to heavy shelf wear to all cover edges, tight in binding, ink signature on free front endpaper, on the reverse, a 3-line gift inscription to same person dated "Dec/34" and his own later 3-line inscription stating book "From my dear mother Dec 25/34", otherwise very clean and unmarked throughout, pages hardly age toned, surprisingly fresh and white, a few scattered tiny traces of foxing but none of the usual child's markings.
