New York: Abelard Schuman, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Quentin Blake. 7 1/8 X 10 1/8 Inches. Scarce first printing of this early children's book by Hunter (Ed McBain). Just as important, this is the first illustrated book by Sir Quentin Blake. Blake would go on to illustrate more than 300 books including those of his own as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Blake illustrated books for Dahl, Seuss and Steig among many others. Original price of $2.75 intact on front flap. Bottom corner of front flap clipped. Book itself a bit damp stained at spine and top corners. Jacket rubbed and worn at spine folds and edges. A scarce book in commerce.
