About This Item

Matsuki Heikichi, Japan. Hardcover. Near Fine Condition/No Dust Jacket. MIYAGAWA SHUNTEI. Book of woodblock prints published in Japan by Matsuki Heikichi, circa 1900. Octavo, accordion-fold with 14 double-page color prints (displaying illustrations no matter which side you open the book), cloth-covered boards with a paper label on the front. Prints are 14 x 9.5 inches or 36x24cm. Shuntei (1873-1914) specialized in quiet illustrations of women and children, so the present book is typical of him, beautifully colored and exquisitely printed, showing women individually and in small groups. Most are outdoors in contemplative settings, either domestic or in nature. Condition of this book: Overall near fine with a few unwelcome little marks, slight age-toning. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text is in Japanese. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Art & Design; Japan; 1900-1920; Japanese Language; Antiquarian & Rare. Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 55475. .
